AudioQuest Blizzard XTRM powercord features luxury Mistral Series connectors with optimal clamping force for maximum performance. Mistral Series plugs, like the Storm Series connectors, are made of a thick layer of silver over red copper and beryllium copper.

AudioQuest Blizzard XTRM is even thicker than the AudioQuest Monsoon XTRM, so stiffer as well. The AudioQuest Blizzard is the successor of the old NRG-10, but is is a tad cheaper. Like the NRG-10 is is built completely from Perfect Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, and it is the first cable in the new series that is fitted with a DBS module containing ‘Black’ level RFI suppression. Besides that it also has the familiar Ground Noise Dissipation System, a multi-layered shield that absorbs high frequency noise before it enters the conductors.

Zero Characteristic Impedance Enables Uncompressed Current Transfer

A non-technical analogy for this might be that if you drop a coin in a tube with shampoo in it, no matter how wide (low resistance) that tube, the shampoo (the Characteristic Impedance) is going to get in the way (compromise current transients). Eliminating Characteristic Impedance (Zero means No in this application) is like having only air in the tube, as close to a vacuum as possible. Whether the amp is running at less than a watt or is fully maxed out, the unrestricted transients are visceral — something the whole body understands, no words required.

Dielectric-Bias System with Radio Frequency Trap (DBS, US Pat #S 7,126,055)

AudioQuest's DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes nonlinear time delays, resulting in clearer sound emerging from a "blacker" background. The inclusion of an RF Trap ensures that radio frequency noise will not be inducted into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements.

Patented Ground Noise-Dissipation and Direction-Controlled Conductors

AC noise is present at the utility source and is then supplemented by radio, cellular, etc., noise that is picked up by the AC power cord. This noise is then coupled to the components power supplies and to circuit ground, which in turn creates distortion and low-level signal masking.

AudioQuests patented Ground Noise-Dissipation dramatically reduces radio frequency interference (RFI) linearly across an extremely wide range of frequencies, yielding an unprecedented reduction in Transient Intermodulation (TIM) distortion. You hear natural sound with an artificial bite.

On top of this, all drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting small RF-impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion.
