P30 este cel mai bun preamplificator construit vreodata de catre Hegel. Cu noile tehnologii dezvoltate special de catre producatorul norvegian si cu piesele atent selectionate si imperecheate manual, P30 este gata sa concureze in liga mare, cu cele mai bune preamplificatoare din lume, indiferent de gama de pret.
In ciuda aparentelor, preamplificatoarele sunt printre cele mai delicate si dificil de proiectat aparate audio. In acelasi timp, rolul lor este esential si foarte important pentru sunetul sistemului audio.

Preamplificatoarele opereaza cu semnal de nivel mic si orice distorsiuni sau interferente pot avea efecte majore in rezultatul final. Controlul volumului este unul dintre punctele cheie, iar P 30 este o adevarata capodopera in acest sens. Butonul de volum, in sine, este folosit doar pentru a seta volumul dorit, semnalul este prelucrat de o retea de tranzistori MOS care dirijeaza semnalul catre o retea de rezistente de inalta calitate. De aici, semnalul merge direct catre amplificatorul de putere. Pentru prima data, Hegel a folosit tehnologia SoundEngine intr-un preamplificator de linie. Traseul de semnal din preamplificator este redus la minim, semnalul trece doar prin doi tranzistori si 1-3 rezistente, intre intrarea si iesirea din P30.

Sunetul lui P30 poate fi descris doar prin adjectivele "organic" si "natural".
P30 are doua perechi de intrari balansate (XLR) si trei perechi nebalansate (RCA), plus o intrare de tip HomeTheater utila pentru integrarea intr-un sistem Home-Cinema.
